Crystal Curse: A malady inherited from his mother, though it can also be passed on via malevolent magic. Certain bloodlines of dark fae have feathers and crystals or gemstones growing from their very bodies, weighing them down and making flight difficult or even impossible without strong use of magic to keep them aloft. Over-use of magic (to aid flight or in general) leads to the gemstones growing rapidly, even visibly growing larger in minutes. If crystals on a cursed fae are not occasionally "pruned," they can completely and totally encase the fae, which does not kill them but puts them into a deep slumber. They remain hibernating in this form until an outside force frees them. As such, solitary fae who have the Crystal Curse must use extreme caution, or will be doomed to sleep forevermore, entombed in their own crystalline growths.

On the other hand, through some strange alchemy in their skin and blood, cursed dark fae are more resistant to iron than normal, making them powerful combatants. Touching iron does not hurt him, but ingesting or being pierced by iron would be ill-advised.

BIRTH: Prism does not remember the name of the world where he was born, but he grew up in the Dragonlands, also known as Urrth, the realm of furres. He never knew his father, either, and his mother never spoke of the past other than to say he was the product of a 'love that should never have been.'

EARLY LIFE: Prism and his mother lived in the bustling city of Great Graa, Drakoria for his childhood and adolescence, but there came a time when he wanted to learn magic and art, and Drakoria was no place for that. Thusly, the fae departed all he had known and sailed for the continent of Kasuria. However, after only a year at the university in the capital city of Malgrave, Prism grew restless. Homesick. He thought to go back to his mother and bring her to Kasuria with him, where she could be close at-hand.

THE 'DARK YEARS': Unfortunately, upon returning to Great Graa, he discovered that his old mother had perished from being slain… perhaps by an undead. Distraught, Prism returned to Kasuria alone, and fell in with a bad crowd for a time. He traveled around the realms of the universe, indulging his baser wants to numb the pain, never wanting to set down roots anywhere in case it was taken away from him again.

A decade passed like this in a blur, and eventually he came across a small group of traveling mystics in the mountains that taught him the importance of dealing with pain head-on, as well as a cursory amount of lapidary knowledge. They were former slaves from the land of Drakoria, and though he was a stranger with a Wyrmme name, they welcomed Prism with open arms. With their aid, and that of magic, he was able to soothe his soul with the use of crystals and meditation.

A NEW BEGINNING: One day in the recent past, Prism's fear became reality, and an errant spell supercharged a ring of crystals that powered into a portal and sent him zipping through time and space.

He arrived in a place called Nascence, but this time, he was emotionally prepared to leave his found-family… to a point. Time would tell just how well-adjusted he had become as he found his way in this strange new realm.
